We invite you for Tuesday 19 March to come and join us at the Terra Nova Center for a special community day for our friends and family of Terra Nova, our neighbours and all our relations that feel a heart connection with our place, our center, the land and waters.

We will welcome into our midst a brother from Hopi land (Arizona US) Ruben Saufkie sr.. We have invited him to be with us for a few days and we welcome him into our circle, to pray with us, our ancestors, for our relations, our people and our land. Also we will learn how to walk the Hopi Way, which includes love, peace, compassion, taking care of each other and connecting with brothers and sisters.

Ruben Saufkie

Please feel welcome to come and share your prayers, songs, drums and sharings! Children are welcome too.

We also would like to work with the water and the land, so please bring anything you need to be with us, such as comfortable clothes, water bottle, drums, rattles and other musical instruments.

Day planning

09:00 welcome for coffee and tea
09:30 opening circle and morning session
13:00 lunch
14:30 afternoon session
18:00 dinner
19:30 evening session
21:00 closing circle

During the morning, afternoon and evening sessions several teachings, sharings and ceremonies will be held.

We will have a potluck lunch together, so please bring some vegan/vegetarian food to share with the group. In the evening we will provide for a light meal. We will provide for water, coffee and tea during the day.

All is based on the gift economy. You are invited to bring as much as you can to the ceremony. This will invite abundance into your life! It may be in the form of a monetary donation and/or food, herbs (from your garden) for the sacred fire, fire wood, etc. Let us know should you want to contribute in a different way. Anything that contributes to making this visit a success is most welcome. Please keep in mind that your generous donation will allow others with little financial resources to take part in these and future teachings.

Donations will be used to cover the costs of the trip by car from the Netherlands to southern France and back. Along the way Ruben and his travel companions will be hosted by other friends and relatives. Any surplus donations will be used to help finance future trips to teach the Hopi Way.

Ruben:

“LOLMA, GREETINGS RELATIVES. I LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING EVERYONE ONCE AGAIN VERY SOON. IT IS WITH GREAT HOPE AND PRAYERS OF COMPASSION THAT WE MUST FIND FORGIVENESS FOR ALL OF US HUMANITY. TO COME TOGETHER IN UNITY, TO FIND BALANCE, HARMONY, TO CREATE PEACE. THIS IS A PIVOTAL POINT THAT WE HAVE REACHED AT THIS SACRED TIME. PLEASE COME AND JOIN US WITH YOUR PRESENCE OR IN SPIRIT. MAY WE ALL ACHIEVE “HAPPINESS IN OUR LIVES” KWAK KWAH, RUBEN SAUFKIE SR. “PATKIWUNGWA” WATER CLAN OF HOPI.”

“Today, Hopi is a vibrant, living culture. The Hopi people continue to perform their ceremonial and traditional responsibilities through an ancient language. The Hopi are deeply religious people living by the ethic of the Hopi Way, Maasaw’s Way, through peace and goodwill, spiritual knowledge, adherence to religious practices, and responsibility as Earth stewards. The Hopi culture places great value on family cohesion, stability and generosity, humility and respect, a work ethic of self-reliance, and valuing and honoring the needs of the entire community. In Hopi culture, giving isn’t charity. Giving and helping are embedded in spiritual and cultural ceremonies, as well as the normal routine of daily life. The Hopi people share with others because it helps to make the community stronger. The cornerstone of the Hopi Way is an initial idea, a ritual plan, and a prayer for success.”

Ruben is also an artist and he and his family create beautiful spirited silver jewellery and artwork. Please bring cash with you should you be interested in buying one of these unique pieces.

We would greatly appreciate it if you could let us know in advance if you will commit to coming, but if you come unannounced, please bring with you your share
